Dealing With A Stalker? How A Private Investigator Can Help

Stalker protection

Unwanted contact, harassing messages, showing up constantly at your work or home. One of the scariest situations can be dealing with a stalker, and we don’t take this issue lightly. The good news is, you have resources on your side. Here are the ways a private investigator can help protect you against a stalker.

The first thing your investigator will do in this situation is identify your stalker. Sometimes you will already know who this person is, but other times it’s an unknown suspect or there are a few options of who the stalker could be. It’s important to get our team out into the field as quickly as possible, surveilling the area to nail down the suspect’s identity. Once their identity has been established, your investigator will run background reports to get all pertinent information on this person. This will allow the team to thoroughly monitor your stalker, and either gather the evidence needed for a protective order or predict ahead of time if/when that person will violate an existing order.

Your investigator will then work with the local authorities to keep you safe and bring your stalker to justice. Stalking laws vary by state, but in Massachusetts, stalking is considered illegal and can carry a sentence of up to five years in prison. Since our team has experience as former law enforcement, we know what evidence will be needed by the police and how to collaborate with them to legally resolve your case. This includes letting law enforcement know when we’ll be surveilling your stalker, and then alerting them and emergency services if your stalker comes near your home or work.

If you’re dealing with a cyberstalker, that can be just as terrifying. Our phones and computers are with us almost every minute of the day, and a cyberstalker essentially takes control of all of that through constant online harassment. Just like with a stalker who shows up at your home, a PI can dive into the situation and uncover the identity and next move of your cyberstalker. Massachusetts also includes written harassment illegal, so this information will be shared with law enforcement to build a case and protect you from this person.

Dealing with a stalker is a very scary and overwhelming situation, but there is something you can do to protect yourself. If you find yourself in this situation, contact our offices and we’ll get to working with you immediately to keep you safe and bring your stalker to justice.
